Open Projector Night
The Open Projector series exists to establish a venue for local film in Grand Rapids.
It's not Open Mic Night,
it's Open Projector Night.
Celebrate short films with the Open Projector Night series, a recurring event that recognizes the work of local, regional, and national filmmakers. Enjoy a diverse range of screenings from animated narratives and commercial work to experimental pieces. After the event, participate in a question and answer panel with the filmmakers and vote for your favorite short film. Winners will receive a number of awards, including special screenings of their work before UICA's feature films.
April 6th: Submission Deadline
May 4th: Selections Announced
May 18th: OPN14
Interested in submitting your own short film for consideration? Anyone is welcome to submit. Applying is free, and we welcome any genre, or rating, under 25 minutes in duration. Films are selected and curated into a seventy-minute program by a panel of UICA staff and volunteers.
Please consider that Open Projector Night is an ongoing film series; its intent is to showcase a diverse selection of films connected to Michigan and to establish a venue to highlight local filmmakers in Grand Rapids.
Open Projector Night is supported in part by the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office.
