An Evening with the Cultura Collective

Get to know the artist cooperative, Cultura Collective, on December 09 at UICA. Enjoy a full evening of family-friendly activities, panel discussions, and performances that initiate conversations about race and identity in our community. A cash bar serving beer and wine will be available from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

Cultura Collective will be contributing a permanent artifact to the exhibition Organize Your Own, curated by Daniel Tucker. The traveling exhibition, now on view at UICA, features new works by contemporary artists and poets that respond to the history of the mandate from the Black Power movement to “organize your own” community against racism.

Past and present Cultura Collective participants include: Gustavo Bastidas, Willie Bolden, Andre Daley, George Eberhardt, Piper Adonya Fields, Gerardo Flores, David Frison, Yesenia Gomez, Noemi Gonzalez, Ricardo Gonzalez, Edye Evans Hyde, Javier Jauregui, Keyon Lovett, Jovan Naves, Sammy Publes, Fernando Ramirez, Nancy Quero Ramirez, Colby Roanhorse, Sofia Ramirez Hernandez, Steffanie Rosalez, Alejandro Ruiz Jr., Josh Solas, and Javier Torres.
