Opening Reception: Enmeshed

Join us for the Enmeshed opening reception to get a first look at the works on view. Meet and mingle with the artists on-site, explore the galleries, and enjoy light refreshments by The Cheese Lady and a cash bar.

Enmeshed is a group of solo exhibitions which features work by artists who bridge the personal, the political, and the spiritual. Participating artists explore how these relationships refer to both identity and action. Participating Artists include:

Tyanna J. Buie is Assistant Professor/Section Chair of Printmaking at the College for Creative Studies. Buie received her BA from Western Illinois University, and her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was the first black woman to win the Mary L. Nohl Fellowship. She also is the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Painters & Sculptors Grant.

Curt Ikens, DamnStraight.jpg

Curt Ikens, who received his BFA from Eastern Michigan University and MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, created new work for this solo show. Ikens recent work grapples with diverse issues including environmental sustainability, the awkward merging of Eastern and Western cultures, historicism, and child labor.

Jillian Dickson Ludwig received an MFA from Clemson University and a BFA from Bradley University. She has shown extensively in U.S. and international solo and group exhibitions, including at ArtVenice Biennale 3, International Juried Digital Exhibition in 2015. Ludwig is currently the visiting assistant professor in drawing and painting at Alma College.

Andromeda Schmidt is a trans occult graphic designer, sculptor, and college instructor. She received her MFA in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and BFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has shown in Detroit, MI, Philadelphia, PA, Richmond, VA, and New York, NY.

Dana Freeman is a Professor of Art Aquinas College. She received a BFA from Pomona College, focusing on abstract painting and assemblage sculpture. Her MFA. is from the University of California, Santa Barbara in photography, video and performance/installation. Dana's work is concept driven, often using the figure in limbo, a response to her experiences and dreams.
