The Found Footage Festival

Showtimes:

02/08  |  8 PM

Cost: $15

The Found Footage Festival, the acclaimed touring showcase of odd and hilarious found videos, is coming to Grand Rapids next month. Hosts Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett, whose credits include The Onion and The Colbert Report, have curated their all-time greatest VHS finds from 25 years of collecting into “Cherished Gems,” debuting at UICA on Friday, Feb. 8th at 8pm

The Found Footage Festival is a one-of-a-kind event showcasing videos found at garage sales and thrift stores and in warehouses and dumpsters throughout North America. Childhood friends Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher take audiences on a guided tour of their latest and greatest VHS finds, providing live commentary and where-are-they-now updates on the people in these videotaped obscurities. From the curiously-produced industrial training video to the forsaken home movie donated to Goodwill, the Found Footage Festival resurrects these forgotten treasures and serves them up in a lively celebration of all things found.

Highlights of the new show include:
•Excerpts from two ill-advised episodes of a Los Angeles cable show called “Dancing with Frank Pacholski”
•An arts and crafts how-to video starring Dee Gruenig, a woman who’s a little too enthusiastic about sponge painting
•A montage of unwittingly hysterical exercise videos, starring Angela Lansbury, adult film star Traci Lords, and a bearded hippie named Zar
•Highlights from Pickett and Prueher’s appearances on local morning news shows as a fake yo-yo expert, fake celebrity chef and fake strongman duo Chop & Steele
